Prominent's growers are realising this by such means as making the size of their company ready to meet future challenges. It's up to the growers themselves to determine a way to do this that best fits how they run their businesses.

A BRIEF LOOK AT THE LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

  • After years of collaboration, Schenkeveld and Kwekerij de Kabel will become a single organisation on 1 January 2019.
  • Kwekerij Dukker and Zwinkels Tomaten (in the Dutch town of ’s-Gravenzande) will merge on 1 January 2019. Here is another case of a natural fit between the companies and a relationship of trust built within the growers' association Prominent.
  • And, since 1 July, the three growers in the Mondial Group have been affiliated with Prominent. These three growers agree that teamwork is a must for making the horticulture sector future-proof.

Coöperatie DOOR markets and sells the tomatoes produced by the 29 growers of Prominent so that the growers can focus entirely on producing their crop and developing their company.

A new packaging centre will be built in Honderdland, a business park in the Dutch village of Maasdijk, in 2019. Through increased acreage and growth in segments such as cherry, plum and snack tomatoes, there is a growing demand for sufficient capacity to package all these tomatoes for the customer. With the new building, we will soon have all the facilities in house and sufficient scale to meet the needs of the market.
